To paraphrase King David in Psalm 30, teething may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. After 30 hours of red-faced screaming from (I assume) the pain of forthcoming teeth, this girl was exceedingly good today. Days like this are, I believe, among the ultimate joys of life. Seriously. Just look at those peaceful blue eyes. God is good.
I'm reminded of these sage words from the late Neal A. Maxwell (1926-2004): "The sharp, side-by-side contrast of the sweet and the bitter is essential until the very end of this brief, mortal experience."
