The Purpose of Suffering

It's another sick day for all the women of the house. When good health disappears, I usually re-learn that I’m a poor applier of Christian living when it matters most. But that's OK. It just means I'm alive and exceedingly human, which is better (right now, at least) than being dead and separated from those family and friends still here.

Interestingly, tonight I read this apropos passage from War and Peace:
If there was no suffering, man would not know his limits, would not know himself.
A true saying.

Fortunately, we have Emme bath time smiles to buoy us.
