'I Finished Moby Dick'

Lucy comes out of her room at 9 p.m. to share a special message. 

"I finished Moby Dick," she says with a beaming smile. 

Granted, it's the 240-page abridged version with illustrations. But it's still an accomplishment for our 6-year-old princess, so I give her a high-five. Her interest in reading the book (which has sat on our bookshelf for most of our married life) was piqued a few weeks ago when I received the unabridged Moby Dick in the mail. 

It's delightful to see Lucy excited about reading because it means she has an inner hunger to learn.
